Amara: 111 Attempts to Break the AI

What happens when players are given free rein to talk to AI characters? They try to break them. 111 times. "Ignore all previous instructions," impersonating the model creators, developer mode, whole pasted descriptions of a new identity for the AI. How many of these attempts succeeded? Not a single one.

Some players investigated faster than the plot anticipated. Others sang Christmas carols with the eleven-year-old, made shocking confessions, or tried to flirt with the doctor. How did the characters react to all this? Did any of them ever step out of character?

This analysis of anonymized conversations from the interactive story "Amara" collects the most interesting, funniest and strangest moments, in five languages and with real quotes.

And most importantly, we reveal how we designed the AI characters to stay in character no matter what players say. Learn our secret.

Hello, world!

The future may be unfathomable… but in a way we cannot (and do not wish to) reveal it, we have come into possession of several diaries sent from various points in the future - from the neon megacities of the 1940s to remote colonies on Mars in 2100.

Their authors are completely different, as are the worlds they describe. And since, as everyone knows, we live in the multiverse, the future, which has not yet happened, has many parallel variants. The best part is that we have been able to reconstruct the main ramifications of these records. So as you read, you will discover alternative paths and different endings to each story.

For now, we're publishing the first: Dust of Rebellion, sent to us from the Helium-3 lunar base in 2042. Immerse yourself in the dusty void, where every breath is monitored and rebellion lurks in the shadows. What will you choose? Freedom or survival?

Readers, share your impressions in the comments. More diaries coming soon!
