Neon Case

The year is 2065, Hong Kong - a city that never sleeps, but has long lost its luster. Neon lights reflect in puddles of acid rain, crowds glide under holographic advertisements, and the air is thick with smog and the smell of street food.

I sat in our PAV - Personal Air Vehicle, a service craft reserved for those in uniform. I watched the red streaks of lights blur below. I thought we'd finally be off duty - Kai and me, a bottle of synthetic wine, maybe an old holofilm. But no.

A new notification popped up on the cockpit screen: „Neon Lotus” - an upscale android brothel in Tsim Sha Tsui red-light district. Property destruction: an android-sexbot „killed” by a customer. He claims self-defense - she allegedly attacked him with a knife. He does not want to pay for the damage.

„Another property case,” I muttered angrily. I confirmed with the headquarters: „Unit T19 to HQ. We are checking at Nathan Road. ETA five.”

Kai Wong, my partner, looked on with a smile. „Ling, the city never rests.”

I smiled despite my fatigue. With Kai, it's always like that - he's the one who makes the chaos make sense. I love him.

Neon Hong Kong Hong Kong is no longer the pearl of China it once was. Triads are fighting for influence among themselves, prostitution is booming (people and androids alike), corporations are sucking up the leftovers. People used to think that in the middle of the 21st century we would all be flying. Ha! PAVs are only for elites and cops. The rest are stuck in traffic jams at the bottom.

Our vehicle glided over the rooftops. The rain drummed against the carbon windshield. It was time to get to work.

It feels like a teaser to a much longer, larger, and complex story, one with a twist ending. Even with each step closer to the solution I expect a few sharp turns will add tension, confusion. Well done! Excellent graphics! 👍🏽🌅

Also, curious if it is written in Polish only. If so, I understand. If so, then what I'm getting is a machine translation. How appropriate! It seemed fine.
